School Choice
School Choice Application Window is January 1st-May 1st for 2025-2026 school year.
THE FOLLOWING STANDARDS FOR THE ACCEPTANCE AND REJECTION OF SCHOOL CHOICE APPLICATIONS APPLIES TO THE BARTON SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR:
Due to a lack of capacity as defined in Arkansas law, and because participation in the Arkansas Public School Choice program would require the Barton School District to add additional teachers, staff, or classrooms, the Barton School District is unable to approve school choice applications into the Barton School District for the 2025-2026 school year except as set forth below.
The Barton School District will accept siblings of students already attending the Barton School District through an earlier school choice transfer.
The Barton School District will allow students who attended school in the Barton School District during the 2024-2025 school year, but whose families moved out of the Barton School District, to remain in the Barton School District through a school choice transfer.
The district reserves to itself the ability to decline to accept under school choice any student whose acceptance would require the district to add additional staff to exceed the maximum student to teacher ratio in any of the District’s current grade, program, or building capacity.
School Choice applications are due by May 1.
